Paeds EM teaching sessions

Paediatric EM X Ray Teaching

Learn the tips and pitfalls of interpreting Paediatric X Rays...

PEM Xray teaching - see the  calendar to conform dates but on the first Wednesday of each month,  2-2.30pm in the Level 2 Radiology Seminar room, we discuss the images  from interesting and instructive cases that we've seen in the Children's ED over the past month. All cases, from puzzling  minor trauma to critically unwell children are reviewed with the expert  help of the hospital's Paediatric Radiology team

Paediatric EM Sim Sessions

Learning based on real-life scenarios in Paediatric Trauma and Critical care...

These  sessions are ad hoc depending on the state of the department but we  usually hold 3 sessions a month. The sessions are aimed not only at  learning to manage particular presentations but also to improve teamwork and team leadership skills. We also run a  paediatric trauma sim for the hospital paediatric trauma team every 2-3  months.

Paediatric EM Safeguarding Teaching

Develop your understanding of the issues around the safeguarding of children in the EM setting...

All are  welcome to join the weekly safeguarding meetings between Anne Wilson  (safeguarding lead nurse) and Dr Moya Dawson, PEM Consultant. These take place in the PED on Wednesday  mornings at 9am

Paediatric EM Middle Grade Teaching

PEM Teaching aimed for experienced EM Clinicians...

A wide range of teaching is delivered at the weekly middle grade PEM  teaching session three times a month at 11am on Wednesdays (see  calendar), which aims to cover the paediatric curriculum for EM trainees. These sessions are delivered mainly by  outside specialties, e.g. paediatric surgery. See the calendar for  what's on.

Paediatric Emergency Medicine Journal Club

Paediatric  Emergency Medicine Journal Club meets once every 2 months where both  trainees and consultants present new research relevant to the care of  children in the Emergency Department. See calendar for the next meetings dates.
